Travel: Sullivan's Island and Brookgreen Gardens (near Charleston, SC)

For our third day in the Charleston area, we decided to get a car rental and drive out of town a bit. We decided to check out Sullivan's Island and then even further out to Murrell's Inlet to visit Brookgreen Gardens. We weren't interested in visiting plantations or anything, but that's something else that seemed popular for the area.

Note that there is not really a parking lot for this beach, but there are some shoulders to park on (it will be obvious when you get there). It seems like it would be a big difficult to park during their peak beach season, as this beach is more for residents rather than tourists.

We hopped back into our car and headed toward Murrell's Inlet. We decided to stop for lunch in Pawley's Island. Here's lunch at bisQit at the Hammock Shops (Website, Yelp).

We split a burger and had their Rosemary fries (yum). I forgot to upgrade my beef patty though, doh!

From lunch, it was just a short drive to Brookgreen Gardens (Tripadvisor, Website, Yelp). It's basically a sculpture garden with tons of beautiful live oaks covered in Spanish moss. There is a mini zoo with local animals as well, which is pretty cute. Overall, a nice, laid-back place to spend an afternoon.

Cory asked if this lady was holding a daikon. A DAIKON, you guys. *rolls eyes*

These foxes were rescues. One only had 3 legs, and one didn't have a tail :O I asked what the keeper was feeding them that day. As he threw down some food, he said "Uh, today, it's mystery meat." O_O
